Going with someone new can make an event easier to enjoy when your usual friends are unavailable. Start with an event you actually want to attend, then compare what each of you expects from the evening.

Choose an event with confirmed details

Check the organiser’s current announcement for the event date, venue, start time and entry requirements. Use its linked ticket provider and read the ticket category, cancellation and transfer terms. Do not assume a ticket can be resold or transferred. This guide does not advertise a confirmed event or promise that any tickets are available.

Compare what you want from the outing

Ask whether your companion wants to stay for the whole programme, arrive early, find seats or join a standing crowd. Compare budgets and accessibility needs before buying. Decide whether each person buys their own ticket; separate purchases can avoid sending money or personal payment details to a new contact.

Make the meeting point unambiguous

Choose a public location outside the queue or a staffed entrance, and distinguish the meeting time from the event start time. Agree on a message if one person is delayed and a limit on how long the other will wait. Keep each person’s ticket available independently so nobody depends on someone else to enter.

Plan the end of the evening

Agree that either person can leave earlier. Arrange your own return transport and identify a practical pickup point before the event ends. You do not have to share accommodation details or accept a ride from a new contact. Ask before posting photos of your companion and respect their boundaries.

Invite a companion with clear expectations

Example: “Looking for an event buddy for a programme I’m interested in. We will check the official details, buy our own tickets and meet at a public entrance. Happy to leave separately.” Add the exact event only after verifying it. Explore event-related plans on Weefou; participation depends on actual users and available plans.

Questions before booking

What if the event is rescheduled? Check the organiser or ticket provider’s terms and announcements for your booking.

Should I buy a ticket for someone I have not met? Prefer independent bookings where possible; agree on any shared purchase before paying.

What if nobody joins? Choose an event you would enjoy independently, or wait until plans are confirmed before booking.
