Sharing a destination does not automatically make two people compatible travel companions. Before planning an overnight trip with someone new, compare how you make decisions, handle costs and respond when plans change. No profile, badge or conversation can guarantee that a person is safe.

Start smaller than an overnight trip

Try a short public outing before discussing a longer journey. Notice whether the person respects agreed times, spending limits and your choice to leave. You can decline another meetup without explaining private details. Avoid making an unfamiliar person your only source of transport or accommodation during a first meeting.

Compare the practical itinerary

Discuss dates, journey length, interests and how much time each person wants to spend independently. Agree on planned stops rather than assuming everyone wants the same activities. Check current destination access, transport and booking information with the relevant official provider. This guide does not confirm a route is open or recommend a particular trip.

Keep costs and bookings transparent

Separate transport, accommodation, food and activity costs. Agree on who books each item and how cancellations are handled before paying. Prefer keeping your own booking confirmation and access to your return ticket. Do not share banking passwords, payment codes or unnecessary identity documents with a companion. Provide required booking information directly to the authorised provider.

Discuss boundaries before departure

Agree on accommodation arrangements and private time without pressure. Do not assume that travelling together implies a romantic interest, room sharing or permission to post photos. Arrange check-ins with a trusted person and keep an independent way to change or end your trip. If a companion pushes you to ignore boundaries or rush a payment, pause the plan.

Create a clear travel invitation

Example: “Interested in exploring a short daytime outing first. Looking for someone with a similar budget and pace; we will confirm the public meeting point, costs and independent return options before deciding.” Use Weefou to explore shared-interest plans, while making your own assessment of people and arrangements.

Questions travellers often ask

Does a verified profile guarantee safety? No. Verification is not a guarantee of conduct or compatibility.

Should we pool all our money? Keep costs explicit and retain independent access to funds and bookings.

What if our priorities differ? Agree on independent activities or decline the trip before taking on non-refundable costs.
